a work in progress, but I think it's getting pretty close. a tongue-in-cheek take on our sorry state of affairs in the US... and probably elsewhere as well.

Lyrics
Everything is right in the world tonight Everything is right in my world No one cares about one nation under a God who’s on vacation Let it be while the world turns The sun is always shining on me They stay in my shadow constantly It took them years to be the perfect Naive, true and loyal subject Let them eat cake while they genuflect And let the gulf between us widen Or turn the screw and let it tighten As long as I am happier than them It’s good to be the king It’s nice to squander everything There’s never been a better time, it’s good to be the king… Everything is right in the world tonight Everything is right in my world Ruling with an iron fist Or just a small flick of the wrist Thank you, I’m fine the way it is Always keep the home fires churning I’ll just fiddle while it’s burning The lemmings and the sheep know While they live in squalor I just look the other way It’s good to have it all It’s good to build a wall to keep it in, or keep them out It’s good to be the one making laws It’s good to have this solitary cause It’s good to live in epic style It’s good to sneer instead of smile It’s good to feed my inner child Sleeping soundly all the while- It’s good to be the king It’s nice to squander everything Never been a better time, it’s good to be the king… Everything is right in the world tonight It’s good to be the king. It’s good to be the best at everything, The King!

Absolutely fantastic Matt! Bit of this sound familiar from an old draft I vaguely remember, obviously you've put a lot of work into this. A big song that somehow gets bigger and bigger, tons of drama and great little touches in the piano, vocals, and arrangement. You got my vote!

It's like the 70's are back, the good old times. I have to think of Queen, of The Alan Parson's Project too. Genesis? A bit of the Beatles.... Like you made a kind of mixture of their influences. Wow, how did you catch such a specific time spirit? Beautifully done!!!! Good vocals too!!!!

I like you letting rip vocally at around 2:45. You're right, it is good being the king. Hey, nice piano breakdown around 4:00 and that last minute (in particular) is fabulous. Great song, grabs you from the start. So many good songs coming out of the MT studio :)

Superb lyrics, brilliant metaphors and stunningly good arrangement. You are in a class of your own. I hear many influences in your music, which for me, is what makes it special and different. Amazing performance, especially the vocals. Unbeatable!
